RumBabaa is being introduced in Mumbai’s Andheri as a new all-day café focused on specialty coffee, food, desserts and vinyl-led music. The café is launched on 26 April and is positioned within Mumbai’s fast-growing experience-led dining segment. The format is being designed to encourage longer visits instead of quick table turnover.
The café experience is being built around slower consumption and relaxed customer engagement. A vinyl-based music setup is being used through the day to shape the mood of the space. Wine service is also being added for the evening, giving the café a hybrid day-to-night format.
The interiors are being developed with a minimal and functional design approach. Japanese-inspired aesthetics, natural materials and uncluttered layouts are being used to create a calm environment. The space is being positioned for consumers who prefer mindful, comfortable and unhurried dining experiences.
The menu is being planned across several dayparts. Breakfast options include Longevity Bowl, Kodo Power Bowl, Rumbabaa Eggs, Krapow Omelette and Tiramisu French Toast. Later in the day, the menu expands into dishes such as Kataifi Prawns, Bajra Tacos, Peruvian Chicken Pot Pie, sushi, rice-based dishes and grain bowls.
The beverage programme is being treated as a major differentiator. Espresso-based drinks, cold brews, pour-overs, matcha drinks and flavoured coffees are being offered. A slow bar with V60 brews and manual coffee preparation methods is also being included to attract process-focused coffee consumers.
The venture is being led by founders Sandeep G. Ailsinghani, Ayesha Dodeja, Mohitt Maalik and Ankkitha Maithy. Brand and experience design are being overseen by Ankit Anand and Aditi Malikk. Aditi Malikk said the idea was never to create “just another café,” while Ankit Anand stated that the space had been designed to feel warm, thoughtful and effortless.
RumBabaa’s entry reflects the changing direction of India’s café industry. Food, beverages, music, retail and design are increasingly being combined to create stronger customer recall. The café’s growth will depend on consistency, service quality and repeat visits in Mumbai’s competitive café market.
