Conçu is being introduced to the Mumbai hospitality market through the launch of its first outlet in Colaba, as expansion across India’s premium café sector continues to accelerate. The Mumbai entry is being positioned as a strategic milestone for the café and patisserie brand after 14 years of operations in Hyderabad and Bengaluru. Rising consumer demand for artisanal desserts, specialty coffee, and experience-driven dining formats is being targeted through the company’s latest expansion into one of India’s most competitive urban hospitality markets.

The new outlet has been opened in Colaba’s Pasta Lane area, where approximately 2,700 square feet of space has been developed into a hybrid café environment. The outlet has been designed by Essajees Atelier, with bakery retail, dine-in hospitality, and evening beverage-led experiences being combined within a single format. Similar hospitality models are increasingly being adopted across metropolitan cities as operators seek to improve engagement across multiple parts of the day.

A flexible operational structure has also been incorporated into the Mumbai café. During daytime hours, the outlet is being positioned as a relaxed social and work-friendly café environment, while evening operations are intended to transition into a more bar-oriented hospitality experience. Swati Upadhyay, Co-founder of Conçu, said, “The space evolves naturally through the day.”

The menu has been curated around both café dining and dessert-focused retail experiences. Weekend breakfast selections featuring pancakes, egg dishes, avocado preparations, and smoothie bowls have been introduced alongside a larger all-day menu. Coffee, tea, matcha, and ube-inspired beverages are being served together with pizzas, salads, pasta dishes, pastries, small plates, and made-to-order cakes.

Conçu has confirmed that the Mumbai expansion is being led by founders Swati Upadhyay and Sahil Taneja, under a business strategy focused on premium café culture and dessert-led hospitality. Aggressive growth across India’s premium café industry is currently being witnessed, particularly in urban markets where spending on social dining, artisanal bakery products, and specialty coffee continues to rise rapidly.
