A significant global recognition has been achieved by Indri Single Malt Indian Whisky, as its Diwali Collector’s Edition 2025 has been awarded “Best Special Edition Design” in the World’s Best Design category at the World Whiskies Awards 2026. Through this achievement, history has been created, as the honour has been secured by an Indian brand for the first time.
The award has been granted for a design approach that has been deeply rooted in Indian culture and heritage. The packaging has been conceptualised by designer Krsnaa Mehta, Founder of India Circus, and it has been inspired by the grandeur of India’s royal past. Visual elements such as elephants, birds, and architectural arches have been incorporated to reflect serenity, elegance, and artistic richness. A layered use of motifs, textures, and symbolic detailing has been presented, through which a sense of tradition and craftsmanship has been conveyed.
It has been shared by the designer that the creative process had been “a beautifully immersive experience,” and it has been stated that features such as “royal elephants and courtyard elements” had been used intentionally to express Indian identity. Satisfaction has been expressed as the work has been recognised on an international platform.
The edition has been positioned not merely as packaging but as a storytelling medium. The festive essence of Diwali has been captured through vibrant colours, heritage-inspired textures, and narrative artwork. Each bottle has been designed as a collectible piece, allowing cultural expression to extend beyond the product itself.
Over the years, Indri’s Diwali Collector’s Editions have been developed as seasonal highlights, with each release introducing a fresh concept and design narrative. With the 2025 edition, a new benchmark in global design excellence has been established.
The recognition has also been acknowledged by Shalini Sharma, Head of Marketing at Piccadily Agro Industries Limited, who has stated that each edition has been created to celebrate India authentically. It has been emphasised that the design serves as “a tribute to Indian art, symbols, and stories,” and it has been noted that such recognition demonstrates the global competitiveness of Indian design when tradition is blended with modern aesthetics.
This achievement has reflected a broader shift in global perception, where Indian brands are increasingly being recognised not only for product quality but also for their distinctive design language and storytelling capabilities. Through this honour, a strong cultural statement has been established on the world stage.
