If you're someone who’s always looking for ways to eat healthier without giving up on your favourite fast food, then this news is going to make your day. McDonald’s India has teamed up with Swiggy to launch a brand-new, high-protein burger range — and it's available exclusively on the Swiggy app from July 24 to August 11, 2025. That’s right, this is a limited-time, app-only drop, and it’s designed for folks who want their burgers with an extra nutritional boost.
At the heart of this launch is something called the Protein Plus Slice — a 100% vegetarian, plant-based protein slice made from soy and pea protein. It adds 5 grams of protein and only about 34 calories to your burger. There are no artificial colors or flavors, and it’s onion- and garlic-free, making it suitable for a wider range of dietary preferences. And the best part? You can customize your burger with up to three slices, depending on how much extra protein you want.
This special offering is available across 58 cities in West and South India, including major metros like Mumbai, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Chennai, Pune, Ahmedabad, Kochi, Mysore, and Surat. All you need to do is open the Swiggy app, head over to the new “High Protein” section, and start building your upgraded burger.
The Protein Plus Slice can be added to a variety of McDonald’s classics — both vegetarian and non-vegetarian. With the slice added, the McSpicy Paneer clocks in at around 25.29 grams of protein, McChicken at 20.66 grams, McVeggie at 15.24 grams, and even the humble McAloo Tikki gets a boost to 13.5 grams. Other fan favourites like McSpicy Premium Veg, Crispy Veggie Burger, McSpicy Premium Chicken, McCrispy Chicken, and Masala McEgg are all part of the lineup.
This move is part of McDonald’s India’s commitment to their “Real Food, Real Good” promise — where taste, nutrition, and innovation go hand in hand. The Protein Plus Slice has been developed in collaboration with CSIR-CFTRI (Central Food Technological Research Institute), one of India’s top food science institutions. So yes, there’s real research and expertise behind this launch — it’s not just a marketing gimmick.
Whether you're an athlete tracking your macros, someone on a high-protein diet, or just curious about trying a new burger experience, this launch is definitely worth checking out. It's not every day you see a fast food brand offering customizable protein upgrades in such a thoughtful way.
But remember, this Protein Plus range is only around until August 11, 2025, and only through the Swiggy app. So if you’re looking to try something that tastes great and does good for your body, don’t wait too long.
