A major milestone in Indian wedding cake artistry is being marked as Megha Kwatra Madan is recognised with the Teacher of the Year 2026 title at the India & International Cake Magazine Awards for Global Excellence. The recognition is being viewed as a historic achievement because the honour has been brought to India for the first time. The award is also being seen as a defining moment for India’s presence in the luxury wedding cake artistry space.
The achievement is being considered significant because Megha Kwatra Madan has helped position Indian wedding cake artistry on international platforms. While Indian artists had earlier represented sugar flowers and royal icing globally, the specialised craft of grand tall-tiered wedding cakes had not been highlighted from India in the same way. Through her body of work, luxury wedding cake artistry from India has been given stronger visibility.
Her journey has been shaped by a major personal turning point. Megha Kwatra Madan had been practising as a dentist in Delhi before a brain cyst diagnosis forced her to step away from her profession. Cake artistry was then embraced as a therapeutic outlet, and it gradually developed into a global career through Studio Cake O’ Luv.
Her recent honours have added further weight to her international standing. The India & International Cake Magazine Awards recognised her as Wedding Cake Artist of the Year and Next Global Star in 2025. D’Licious Magazine Awards in the United Kingdom named her Cake Designer of the Year, while SLICCA in Sri Lanka recognised her as Master Cake Artist of Asia 2024. The Indian Cake Awards also honoured her as Wedding Cake Artist of India 2024.
Her luxury tall-tiered wedding cakes are known for architectural detailing, refined finishing, and story-led design. A distinctive visual language has been created through her use of scale, elegance, structure, and cultural references. Indian identity has also been carried into her work through designs that reflect craftsmanship rooted in the country.
Her contribution as a teacher has also been widely noted. More than 500 students have been trained under her guidance, and her masterclasses are known for encouraging original design work on real cakes instead of dummy structures. This teaching method has helped several students build confidence and showcase their work on larger platforms.
Her international role has extended beyond her own studio practice. Competitions in Dubai, Oman, Sri Lanka, and England have been judged by her, and tutorials have been contributed to American Cake Decorating Magazine and D’Licious Magazine UK. Through these platforms, Indian cake artistry has been presented with pride under the Made in India identity.
