Indri has expanded its travel retail portfolio with the launch of Indri Ilika, a new single malt Indian whisky created exclusively for international travellers. Crafted at the Indri Distillery near the foothills of the Himalayas, the expression highlights subtle peat influence, layered flavours and specialised cask maturation.
Matured in a combination of ex-Spanish sherry casks and ex-American bourbon oak casks, Indri Ilika delivers a balance of tropical fruit richness, gentle smokiness and depth. Inspired by the Sanskrit word Ilika, meaning the earth and its hidden treasures, the whisky reflects the influence of wood, fire and time in shaping its character.
According to the company, the expression offers notes of ripe fruits, dried apricots, chocolate, vanilla, toffee and delicate spice, leading to a long and gently smoky finish. Unlike heavily peated styles, it has been designed to showcase a softer and more nuanced interpretation of smoke.
The launch further strengthens Indri’s growing portfolio of innovative releases, which includes its Diwali Collector’s Editions, award-winning single casks, House of the Dragon collaborations and other travel retail exclusives.
Madhu Kanna, Head of International Business at Piccadily Distilleries, said, “Indri Ilika represents our continued pursuit of innovation.” He added that the new expression has been crafted to showcase both the elegance of peat and the distinctive character of Indian single malt whisky for global consumers.
